One of these partnerships focuses not only on creating sustainable products but also on helping the community. Greens Do Good has a wide variety of sustainably grown produce. You can find these products in our very own produce department.

Greens Do Good is a hydroponic, vertical farm in Hackensack, NJ. This farm is unique unlike many others as they provide opportunities for individuals with autism to learn and work in a safe environment to help them build their resume and lay the foundation for future employment. They provide job training which creates a routine that helps those individuals have a daily structure and personal fulfillment of a job well done which is an important part of all of our lives. Their mission is to transform the way our local community sources healthy produce by providing the freshest ingredients in a sustainable and socially responsible way.

So you may be wondering – what is hydroponic farming? Hydroponics is a type of horticulture which involves growing plants, without soil, by using water-based mineral nutrient solutions. Greens do Good uses energy-efficient lighting systems and stacked trays which improves each yield. The same water used is also recycled throughout the crop’s life cycle.

It’s not everyday that you would expect to find a farm in the middle of the city in Hackensack, NJ. Because this farm is indoors and in a controlled environment this also means that they are able to grow produce all year round!

Individuals who work on the farm spend their days planting, seeding, watering and assisting with harvesting. They are able to take responsibilities that suit their ability and work at a pace that is tailored to their needs so that they can complete a task successfully. Each individual helps with crop maintenance, packaging and inventory. “Everyone has a job here at the farm,” Greens do Good says.

Greens Do Good currently produces a variety of sustainable produce including microgreens, butterhead lettuce and basil. We offer their products in our produce department.
